Japanese Sashiko Embroidery

This course introduces you to the beautiful art of Sashiko, a traditional Japanese embroidery technique created in 17th century Japan. nnBorn out of necessity, Sashiko has become a popular fashion trend in recent years and can be found in clothing and home decor. This ancient Japanese craft is easy to learn and uses only one type of stitch that can be easily mastered. What makes Sashiko special are the patterns that can be used and even combined. They feature repeating geometric shapes inspired by nature such as waves, mountains, bamboo, arrow or feathers. Made up of straight, curved and zigzag lines, the technique gives quick results and makes stunning textile pieces. Practicing Sashiko will connect you to a long history of craftsmanship, recycling, sustainability and heritage. Whether you're a complete beginner or already have some basic skills, you will learn to stitch beautiful patterns that you will have the opportunity to choose, mix and match. nnThe 8 weeks Sashiko course will foster your creativity, help promoting relaxation, mindfulness, and emotional wellbeing. This course is beginner friendly, open to everyone and inclusive of all materials

Bereavement Support Group

Losing a loved one or someone we cared about, can be a most profound and painful experience. Grief can feel overwhelming, isolating, and at times confusing. This group is for anyone who has lost someone significant in their life, be it partners, parents, children, friends or pets, and is struggling to navigate the experience of bereavement, whether the loss is recent or from some time ago. You are warmly invited to join a supportive group where you can share, listen, reflect, or simply sit alongside others who understand something of what it means to grieve. There is no expectation to explain or justify your feelings, but if being in a gentle, compassionate space to explore your loss feels right for you at this time, that is reason enough to come. Over the weeks, we will thoughtfully explore the stages of grief described by Elisabeth Ku00fcbler-Ross u2014 denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. We'll focus on each stage, and will invite you to use a piece of reflective writing or short poem as a starting point. There will be space to consider how these themes resonate with your own experience, recognising that grief is deeply personal and does not follow a fixed path.
