Understanding and Managing Anxiety – Group Course – 18:00 – 20:00

6x2hrs 8-10 Tudor Road, London, E9 7SN Based on a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) model, the aims of this course are to explore an understanding of anxiety via psycho-education, discussion, reflections and exercises. These activities will take place both in small groups and the larger group. The course is designed to encourage development of skills in coping, responding, and managing experiences of anxiety. This will take place through identifying triggers and situations that are likely to provoke anxiety, through identifying thoughts, moods, behaviours and body/physical sensations, and through considering alternative ways of interpreting and responding. The facilitator will make use of examples and scenarios to illustrate CBT principles and to invite participants to practice the above-mentioned skills. Participants are free to not participate in the exercises if they do not wish to do so. Group Facilitator Pedro Queiroz joined MIND in City, Hackney, and Waltham Forest in May 2018 as the High Intensity IAPT Therapist. Currently offering 1:1 therapy sessions and carrying out clinical assessments for the Psychological Therapies Team, Pedro supported and co-facilitated the Introduction to Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy course. In 2017, Pedro was awarded a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling Psychology from the University of East London. The training focused on the acquisition of knowledge and development of clinical skills in the theory and practice of CBT, Psychodynamic Therapy, and integrative practice.
